Planting projects, outdoor learning spaces, support for lonely people and a mental health charity were among the projects in the Congleton area to share funding from Castle Green Homes.
Projects with an emphasis on sustainability, the environment, health and wellbeing were invited to apply to Mission Green Congleton, a voluntary scheme offered by Castle Green Homes linked to it’s Woodland Manor development on Barn Road.
Originally, there was £5,000 to share, but that budget was increased to almost £9,000 due to the volume of worthy applications received.
Separately to Mission Green, the homebuilder donated £1,000 to Congleton Santa and pledged to support the 2026 Congleton Jazz and Blues Festival, plus Congleton Partnership’s plans for a health and wellbeing fayre.
Sales director Sian Pitt explained: “The concept of Mission Green is simple – we want to celebrate and support those people and organisations in and around Congleton who are working hard to look after the environment or residents’ wellbeing. We had a great response and received applications from a range of worthy causes. We found deciding who to allocate the funding so difficult that we added to the pot. This has enabled us to support 17 projects for maximum impact on the wider community in the area surrounding our Woodland Manor development.
“With the grant funding we’re supporting a range of planting projects, helping provide homes and food for nature; enabling schools to improve outdoor learning spaces; treating people who are on their own to a day out; replacing Beartown Rickshaw’s battery; helping a mental health charity; and supporting an audio walking tour.”
The Mission Green funding was allocated to Beartown Rickshaw, Bromley Farm Community Development Trust, Buglawton in Bloom, Buglawton Primary School, Congleton Cricket Club’s Company Corner, Congleton Food4Free, Daven Primary School, Friends of Congleton Park, Friends of the Community Garden, Havannah Primary School, Mossley WI, P3 Charity, Saint Mary’s Catholic Primary School, The Bromley Farm Hub, Trees for Congleton, Visyon and Voices of Change.
The Mission Green funding is in addition to the community investment Castle Green will make under a Section 106 agreement signed during the planning process.
