Weather watchers and footballers at a school in Sefton have benefited from support from Castle Green Homes.
St William of York Catholic Primary School is less than a mile from Castle Green’s Orchard Place development in Thornton.
As good neighbours, the homebuilder has helped the school with funding towards a weather station and by kitting out football players.
Head teacher Martin Murphy explained: “We’re grateful to Castle Green Homes for the funding they’ve provided to our school. The purchase of the weather station has enabled the children to undertake detailed weather studies as well as meeting the national curriculum requirements in science and geography, particularly in key stage one (children aged five to seven). The weather station has given the children the opportunity to record at first hand the weather and they have started a log of daily weather conditions.”
The football kit, sporting the Castle Green logo, has been worn by children from year two (aged six and seven) up to year four (aged eight and nine).
“Our year four girls’ team were crowned Sefton champions after taking part in a recent tournament while the year four mixed team won a tournament in March and are now heading off to play in the Merseyside finals at Everton’s Finch Farm training centre at the end of May,” Martin added.
“The children love the new football kit and feel very proud to wear it and represent the school.”
Sian Pitt, sales director at Castle Green Homes, said: “The partnership with St William of York Catholic Primary School is part of our commitment to playing an active role in the communities we’re building in. We appreciate the importance of having the right tools for a job and so were happy to be able to help with funding towards the weather station and football kits. The weather station helps make learning fun and it’s great to see the children taking an interest in the weather and the natural environment. We hope the kit continues to bring the football teams lots of luck.”
The new homes at Orchard Place team traditional exteriors with modern interiors. All of the homes include solar panels to harness the sun’s rays and help reduce reliance on the grid for power.
