Castle Green has announced that Gwyn Jones has assumed the role of Managing Director as the firm focuses on further success in the second half of 2018. It is the first time in the family-owned business’s 33-year history that this senior role has been held by someone outside of the family.
Gwyn, who has a degree from Liverpool John Moores University, commenced his career in the commercial department at Anwyl Construction, before joining Lovell Partnerships as a Quantity Surveyor. He joined St Asaph-based Castle Green four years ago. He has since enjoyed rapid progression through the firm and was most recently the company’s Commercial Director. Commenting on his promotion, he comments:
“I feel incredibly fortunate that my career has developed in the way it has and I’ve enjoyed taking on new challenges at every opportunity. The past four years at Castle Green have allowed me to further my career within a company that successfully blends the development of prestigious homes with a commitment to building the best team it can.”
With developments throughout North Wales and the North West of England, Castle Green remains committed to delivering quality, high-specification properties throughout the region. However, in an increasingly competitive market and with ambitious growth plans in place, Chairman Simon Macbryde believes the time is right to hand over day to day running of the business to ensure continued fresh thinking. He comments:
“Castle Green prides itself on the reputation it has carefully developed over the last three decades; the homeowners we have met; and the awards we have been presented with – not least of all two more LABC Building Excellence Awards for our work in North Wales in just the last few weeks.
“However, to ensure our continued growth and success, I believe it is necessary to provide the Macbryde team with a rejuvenated leadership and Gwyn proved to be the ideal candidate for this role. His rise through the business has been rapid but entirely well-deserved given his unwavering commitment to pushing expectations and delivery to an ever-higher standard. I’m personally looking forward to continuing working with him to and to see how Castle Green develops under his leadership.”
Castle Green is currently marketing new build homes in Ellesmere Port, Wrexham, Old Colwyn, and Abergele but with the need for quality housing at an all-time high, it is focused on expanding its operations through increased output and a stronger presence in the region. Gwyn adds:
“We have ambitious growth plans which are focused on doubling the number of quality new homes we complete. To facilitate this, we have made some key appointments over the past 12 months including Simon Finlay as Head of Development.
“Since the turn of the year, we have exchanged contracts on several new sites and have had offers accepted on a number of further sites which we are working towards contracting and submitting for planning soon as possible.
“I am committed to ensuring that in the coming years, Macbryde plays a significant role in the delivery of much-needed quality homes across North Wales and the North West of England.”
30-year old Gwyn is married with four children and away from work he can be found juggling a busy schedule of ballet lessons and football matches!
