Craft club casts on support from homebuilder in Prestatyn

The homebuilder gifted £750 to Cosy Craft Club from its Mission Green initiative, linked to Sŵn y Môr on Gronant Road.

The funding was used towards materials for subsidised craft workshops including those where attendees made blankets and heart wreaths.

Cosy Craft Club’s Lynn Boorman explained: “Cosy Craft Club is all about bringing people together through simple, calming creativity. With funding from Castle Green Homes, we hosted workshops that were more than just helping people learn to crochet or knit but a chance to connect with others locally, share a chat over a cup of tea, and enjoy the quiet satisfaction of making something with their hands. It’s especially helpful for anyone feeling lonely, anxious, or overwhelmed but open to anyone who would benefit from a bit of calm, company, and connection.

“Crochet and knitting are brilliant for mental health as they help people slow down, focus, and feel proud of what they’ve made. But more than that, the workshops give people a chance to connect, chat, and feel part of something, especially those who might be feeling isolated or going through a tough time.”

Mission Green Prestatyn is a voluntary scheme through which Castle Green has supported 11 good causes.

Castle Green sales director Sian Pitt said: “Being part of a close-knit community is more than just knowing your neighbours, it’s having shared experiences and being able to come together whatever your background. We were pleased to be able to support Cosy Craft Club with a donation towards materials, helping them make the workshops more accessible to the local community.”

The other local projects to receive funding though Mission Green were Big Pool Wood volunteers, Denbighshire Play Rangers, Fins Swim School, Friends of Coronation Gardens, Hedgehog Help Prestatyn, Helping Homeless North Wales, Little Explorers and Friends, Ysgol Clawdd Offa, Prestatyn in Bloom, and Ysgol Gronant.

The Mission Green funding is in addition to the community investment Castle Green will make under a Section 106 agreement signed during the planning process.
