Homebuilder helps Prestatyn bloom

Prestatyn in Bloom received £1,000 from the homebuilder’s Mission Green initiative, linked to Sŵn y Môr on Gronant Road.

A spokesperson for Prestatyn in Bloom, said: “Prestatyn has proudly succeeded in both Wales in Bloom and Britain in Bloom competitions annually. We focus on areas around the town that have been overlooked and plant up various flower beds and hanging baskets to keep Prestatyn looking its best for residents, visitors and investors. We applied to Mission Green so that we could source self-watering hanging baskets that can be planted annually. The funding has enabled us to add long term colour through sustainable planting with minimal maintenance required.”

Mission Green Prestatyn is a voluntary scheme through which Castle Green has supported 11 good causes.

Castle Green sales director Sian Pitt said: “Mission Green is helping ensure that as the Prestatyn community grows it remains a place where people and nature thrive. Grants have helped a range of projects supporting residents’ wellbeing and the natural environment. Prestatyn in Bloom ticks both boxes as being outdoors and tending to the flowers is good for volunteers’ wellbeing, while also brightening up the neighbourhood and providing food for pollinators.”

The other local projects to receive funding though the initiative were Big Pool Wood volunteers, Cosy Craft Club, Denbighshire Play Rangers, Fins Swim School, Friends of Coronation Gardens, Helping Homeless North Wales, Hedgehog Help Prestatyn, Little Explorers and Friends, Ysgol Clawdd Offa, and Ysgol Gronant.

The Mission Green funding is in addition to the community investment Castle Green will make under a Section 106 agreement signed during the planning process.
