Homebuilder helps provide homes for nature in Congleton

Wildlife and wellbeing in Congleton are being supported through the latest Mission Green donation from Castle Green Homes.

Mossley Women’s Institute was one of 18 local groups near the Woodland Manor development to receive a share of funding.

Mossley WI president Brenda Proudlove explained: “We put some of the funding towards our fundraising for a defibrillator, which is being installed at the Castle Inn, on Castle Inn Road. There are beautiful nature walks nearby too, which many of our members take to help with their health. We also bought 20 bird boxes and plan to install some of them in the area near the defibrillator, with the rest given to members for their own gardens.  Members and friends enjoyed a lovely spring crafting afternoon painting the birdboxes. It was a fun and creative afternoon and produced some brilliant examples.”

Castle Green Homes sales director Sian Pitt said: “Mossley WI have done a fantastic job in raising funds for a defibrillator, which can make a massive difference in a medical emergency. We were happy to be able to top up their fundraising towards their goal and to also support them in providing homes for nature. Their application ticked all the boxes for Mission Green, which aims to help health, wellbeing and the environment. Crafting and bird watching can both be a stress-reliever that boosts mood.”

Mission Green is a voluntary initiative, in addition to the community investment Castle Green agreed during the planning process.

Under the scheme more than £9,000 has been shared with good causes.

Separately to both Mission Green and its statutory obligations, the homebuilder donated £1,000 to Congleton Santa, sponsored the 2026 Congleton Jazz and Blues Festival, plus a health and wellbeing fayre organised by Congleton Partnership.
