A new junior football team in Runcorn has kicked off its maiden season in style after scoring sponsorship from Castle Green Homes.
Beechwood Junior Football Club’s Ruby Under Nines team plays its home games at Brookvale Recreation Centre – around two miles from Castle Green’s Bridgewater View development in Daresbury.
A donation of £500 from the homebuilder has kitted out the team.
The club’s Carla Crossley explained: “We run wildcats’ sessions to give girls the chance to try playing non-competitive football with others their own age. Some of those players enjoyed the training so much that they’ve gone on to form the Ruby team. They’ve only been training and playing as a team for four months but are full of enthusiasm and keen to play. We’re grateful to Castle Green Homes for sponsoring the training kit and home kit. Without their support we would have had to hold a fundraising walk or run, which would have been reliant on the players’ families and friends making donations.”
