Outdoor spaces, cooking classes and mental health breakfast sessions are among the good causes in the Daresbury area to share £5,000 from Castle Green Homes.
Projects with an emphasis on sustainability, the environment, health and wellbeing were invited to apply to Mission Green Daresbury, a voluntary scheme offered by the homebuilder.
Sales director Sian Pitt explained: “The concept of Mission Green is simple – we want to celebrate and support those people and organisations in and around Daresbury who are working hard to look after the environment or residents’ wellbeing. We had a great response and received applications from a range of worthy causes. Deciding how to share the funding was tricky and so we tried to focus on projects that would have maximum impact on the wider community in the area surrounding our Bridgewater View development. Two local schools have received funding to help improve their outdoors space, a church is setting up a gardening club and we’ve supported Daresbury Litter Network to help keep the neighbourhood clean and tidy. We’ve also sponsored mental wellbeing breakfasts for people with autism and funding community cooking lessons.”
The Mission Green funding was allocated as follows:
Mission Green Daresbury is a voluntary scheme. It’s in addition to the £1.6 million of community investment, agreed during the planning process, linked to Castle Green’s Bridgewater View development.
That funding includes more than £1 million for off-site public open space, £500,000 of improvements to public rights of way and £60,000 towards sustainable transport.
