Canal views and country walks, commuter links to Manchester, energy efficiency and ease of living with no renovations required, it’s clear to see why Bridgewater View in Daresbury is a popular place to live.
This thoughtfully designed Castle Green Homes development isn’t just ticking boxes, it’s providing quality homes where people love living.
Results of the National New Homes Survey found more than 97% of Castle Green homeowners, including those at Bridgewater View, said they would recommend the company to friends.
Here are just some of the reasons why residents of Bridgewater View say there’s nowhere else they’d rather be.
Part of the wider Daresbury Garden Village scheme, as the development name suggests, the homes are close to the Bridgwater Canal. There’s potential for some lovely views of the canal and as in time there’ll be a footpath down to the canal.
Daresbury Primary School is less than a mile away from Bridgewater View. Sandymoor Ormiston Academy is around three miles away and for older children, Bridgewater High School is around five miles away.
University lecturer Stuart Finnerty said: “Location was important in terms of proximity to the children’s school and where I lived before. I also wanted to live somewhere with walks nearby and accessible transport links to Warrington and Manchester.
“I’m very fortunate that the house is higher up, overlooking the countryside so I can look out at the sunset and fields.”
First time buyer Simon Fuller added: “I work at Manchester Airport so it’s only 15 – 20 minutes’ drive down the M56. The views from here are good and it’s nice to be part of a new neighbourhood.”
Homes at Bridgewater View combine the architecture of the Arts & Crafts era, with internal layouts designed with how people really live, and a quality specification.
Explaining why it had to be a new build, Stuart said: “I wanted to be able to put my own stamp on the property and have the reassurance of knowing that it’s fundamentally sound, without the need for lots of repairs and renovations.
“The Castle Green website’s great as you can effectively walk around the development and the individual homes, look at the specification details and test them out and measuring up to see where to put wardrobes.”
Many residents of Bridgewater View share his sentiment.
“I’ve lived in a new build before so didn’t want an old house,” said first time buyer Stephanie Wiggins. “When I saw the homes at Bridgewater View, I thought ‘wow!’”
Fellow first time buyer Jamie Gorman added: “I don’t think I would have bought an older property. I had an idea of what I wanted – a modern kitchen with a granite work top. Buying a new build home meant I could customise it. Willow, Castle Green’s new home assistant, made it much easier to visualise how it would look as you could create CGI versions of the options and see how it would fit in the house. With Willow you also get a progress update every time a new build stage is met.”
Homes at Bridgwater View are built using precision-made timber frames, with generous insultation, and highly efficient central heating.
“Energy efficiency was a factor at the outset from a financial point of view as I had the confidence that while I was taking on a new mortgage, I wouldn’t have really high energy bills. It stays warm so easily it’s phenomenal. I’ve had to get a thinner duvet,” Stuart explained.
Jamie added: “The thermal efficiency is amazing. If I have a few people over, it’s so hot I don’t need to have the heating on.”
It’s estimated that lighting, heating and hot water costs are around 50% cheaper in new build houses, when compared to their older counterparts.
Simon said: “I was interested in buying a new build home because I had heard how energy efficient they are, especially with solar panels.”
Stephanie added: “The team told me how much insulation they had used and that they had part-boarded the loft. The homes also have solar panels to make them more energy efficient and an electric vehicle charging point, which would have been an extra cost if I’d bought an older property.”
Stuart explained: “One of the advantages is that there are solar panels on the roof, which contribute to the environmentally friendliness and should help keep my electricity bills down.”
Current availability at Bridgewater View includes three and four-bedroom homes, with prices from £359,995
