Energy performance certificates (EPC)

Castle Green Homes prides itself on producing homes rated with an A or B EPC rating. Less than 5% of older homes achieve the same standard.*

Each of our homes comes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) which includes details about your homes predicted energy use and typical energy costs.

Air pressure testing in your home

We conduct air-pressure testing on your property to adhere to Building Regulations. Air-pressure testing evaluates the air tightness of your new build home. This examination identifies any gaps, holes, or cracks to prevent excessive air leakage, thereby ensuring that your home retains heat effectively and minimises your energy bills.

Our homes are highly insulated

Approximately 35% of heat loss occurs through un-insulated walls.** We construct cavity walls filled with insulation, forming a thermal envelope that significantly decreases your energy bills while maintaining a cosy and warm atmosphere in your home.

A quarter of heat loss is caused by an un-insulated roof.*** Installing effective loft insulation not only reduces CO2 emissions but also leads to substantial savings on your energy bills. We take pride in installing up to 400mm of blanket-like loft insulation, effectively trapping heat within your new build home.

Double glazed windows

All Castle Green new build homes come equipped with double glazing as standard.

Double glazed windows keep warm air in, improving insulation and reducing draughts, and minimise condensation on the inside of your windows, helping to prevent mould and mildew.

Zoned heating

Many of our homes feature dual-zone heating, allowing you to independently control the heating for upstairs and downstairs areas of your home. With this system, you can enjoy a cosy, warm bathroom in the morning without wasting energy heating other areas of your home unnecessarily. Dual zoned heating offers personalised comfort while also contributing to energy savings on your bills.

Energy efficient boilers

We carefully select and install energy-efficient boilers or heating systems tailored to each of our new build homes. For our smaller homes, you can expect to find ErP efficiency rated "A" combi boilers installed. Designed with space optimisation in mind, our combi boilers take up minimal room compared to conventional boilers while delivering exceptional performance and low energy consumption for heating and hot water needs in your new home.

In our larger homes, hot water tanks are included, allowing hot water to be stored and readily available whenever you need it. This eliminates the need to continuously run your heating system, resulting in lower energy bills and ensuring no unexpected cold showers for your family.

Energy efficient appliances

We believe that small details can make a big difference. That's why we make it a point to install low-energy light bulbs throughout your home. Not only do these bulbs last longer than regular ones, but they also contribute to lowering your energy bills.
